In the world of used pallets, grading is everything. The grade assigned to a pallet determines its price, its appropriate use cases, and the expectations you should have for its condition and performance. Unfortunately, pallet grading is not governed by a single universal standard — it varies between suppliers. At EcoPallets Pro, we use a clear, consistent grading system that our customers can rely on. Here is what each grade means.

Grade A pallets, also called premium or like-new pallets, are in excellent condition. They may have been used once or twice but show minimal wear. All boards are intact, there are no significant stains or damage, and the pallet has not undergone major repairs. Grade A pallets are ideal for retail display, export shipping, high-value goods, and any application where appearance and structural integrity are paramount. They represent the top tier of used pallets and are priced accordingly.

Grade B pallets are the workhorse of the used pallet market. They are in good, functional condition but show visible signs of use — minor board discoloration, small repairs such as replaced deckboards, or slight cosmetic imperfections. Structurally, Grade B pallets are fully sound and meet all load-bearing requirements for standard freight and racking. They offer the best value for most businesses, combining reliable performance with significant cost savings compared to new or Grade A pallets.

Grade C pallets, also called economy or fair-grade pallets, have had the hardest lives. They may show significant wear, multiple repairs, staining, and cosmetic issues. However, they remain structurally functional for lighter-duty applications. Grade C pallets are popular for one-way shipping, internal warehouse transfers, and temporary storage where appearance is not a concern. They represent the most affordable option and are an excellent choice for budget-conscious operations.

Beyond the A-B-C system, you may encounter combo or mixed-grade loads, which contain a mix of grades at a blended price point. These are popular for large-volume buyers who need pallets for varied applications. When ordering from EcoPallets Pro, we always discuss your specific use case to recommend the right grade — there is no point paying for Grade A when Grade B or C will serve you perfectly. The key is matching the pallet grade to your actual requirements, not over-specifying or under-specifying.
